UNLICENSED AND UNMUZZLED CANINES ARE MEETING WITH A VERY SPEEDY DEATH

Officials of the Department of Agriculture Are On Their Job Every Minute - How The Law is Being Enforced Elsewhere

The quarantine ordered by Commissioner R. A. Pearson, of the State Department of Agriculture, is being rigidly enforced in this city, and while there are some who do not believe that rabies could exist here, yet the Commissioner of Agriculture is taking no chances and his deputies are very busy.

All dogs that are found unmuzzled are being caught and disposed of, even though some of the owners of valuable animals do not seem to think that the department is in earnest. It will be recalled that about two months ago the first quarantine made on the city was withdrawn for no new cases of rabies had developed. Yet it was only a short time before a number of persons were bitten and injured by dogs and subsequent investigation showed that the animals were afflicted with rabies.
