Different health care plan proposed

Proposed changes in the health insurance entitlement for employees retired from jobs with the City of Rensselaer have angered some of those former workers who believe the common council tried to quietly pass it. Council members say they thought retirees had been notified about either what the change would mean or when meetings would be held to have it explained to them. The proposed resolution is dated April 15 but the item was not taken up during Wednesday's council meeting because, according to Council President Charles Hall, the council thought retirees had been sent letters.

Four informational meetings are scheduled at city hall and Hall said more would be scheduled during evening hours. The scheduled dates are April 28 at 10 a.m.; April 30 at 2 p.m.; May 5 at 2 p.m. and May 7 at 10 a.m.
